Tools for Repainting Painted Bathroom Cabinets

Before starting the project, you should prepare some tools that you need for repainting your cabinets. It is better you prepare all the tools at first you get ready for your project in order to make the project run smoothly. The tools that you need are screwdriver, cleaner, water, rag, 150-grit sandpaper, belt sander, primer, brush, oil paint, and oil paintbrush.

Steps of Repainting Painted Bathroom Cabinets

First, take the doors off the cabinets by removing the hinges, using a screwdriver. Take the handles off the doors with the screwdriver once the doors are removed.

After that, clean the cabinets, using a kitchen cleaner and a rag to remove all food and grease. Grease makes sanding off cabinet paint more difficult. Let the cabinets dry.

If you finish sanding it, you must place a drop cloth on the floor underneath your sanding area, and sand the paint off all the doors and the cabinets, using 150-grit sandpaper. Use a belt sander to make the process a bit quicker. Then, wipe the surfaces of the cabinets with a dry cloth to remove the sanding particles.

The next step is you must apply a primer to the cabinets, using a primer paintbrush. Use a high-quality primer to prevent peeling of the paint. Allow the primer to dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

After that, apply paint to the cabinets, using a brush appropriate for the type of paint you selected. Oil-based paint tends to be the longest-lasting, so use that and an oil brush. Allow the paint to dry. If the paint has dried, you may reattach all the cabinet hardware.

The bathroom cabinet is more than just a place to store toiletries. As the focal point of the bathroom, it needs to be kept in good shape. Over time, humidity and high traffic can wear on the finish or paint of your cabinet. Replacing painted bathroom cabinets, however, isn’t always necessary, needs to do to refresh your bathroom’s look.
