Today’s Benjamin Moore Bathroom Colors

Today’s bath has been redefined as home spa, the one place in a home where you can retreat to for a reviving pick-me-up. So, when it comes time to give this room a pampering of its own, consider paint and the power of color. It’s a quick, easy and economical way to invigorate the space.

“A splash of paint can be the perfect tonic for toning up a tired bathroom,” suggested Sonu Mathew, ASID, a Benjamin Moore Paints senior interior designer. “Whether it’s just a fresh coat of existing colors or a whole new palette, budget-conscious consumers will appreciate the affordability.”

In today’s volatile housing market, a bath makeover remains a home renovation that still is a wise investment, increasing a home’s value. Often, just a simple paint job can be so transformational that it also can achieve comparable payoffs whether your plans are to stay put or re-sell.

When it comes to bathroom paint, conventional wisdom has always dictated that only a high-gloss finish will do, to avoid telltale water spots and streaks from showing. Now, according to Mathew, Benjamin Moore has developed Aura Bath & Spa a matte finish paint that locks out moisture. “It is exceptionally eco-friendly, low-VOC premium performance paint that retains the color integrity regardless the steamiest conditions and offers a terrific option for consumers.” The new formulation is available in 3,300-plus colors.

With a choice of colors that extensive, deciding which ones to use can be a challenge. “The cool palette of blues, greens and watery hues is, of course, a popular choice for creating a calming and serene setting,” she advised. “Think about using the warmer end of the spectrum—yellows, oranges and pinks—if you want a room that wakes up the senses and is more stimulating and lively.”

Mathew and other of Benjamin Moore’s color experts have put together several suggestions for bathing a bathroom in colors that can convert the blah into aha.

For instance, a “his and hers” bathroom that includes a view of a dressing alcove with storage was given two distinct looks. One is neutral turf for a couple, defined by Benjamin Moore’s Amsterdam AF-550, a soft gray, on the walls. The color is punched up a notch in the alcove, with cabinetry faced in Blue Pearl 1433. Trim along the floorboard is a deep charcoal, Mysterious AF-565; it may be perceived as a minor detail, but acts to sharpen the quality of the other tones. A totally different take on this space is yielded when the walls are treated to a refreshing coat of Benjamin Moore’s AF-450 Seedling, a mint green bordered by a clean White trim. The dressing room storage adds a bright note painted in Sparkling Sun 2020-30.

Blue Seafoam 2056-60 is one of those ocean-inspired hues that can magically transport you to the shore and create a restful retreat for any bath. This Benjamin Moore color was applied to the walls of a space where classic prevails and modern bath fixtures mix with baroque accents. An element of surprise is the ceiling, painted in Luxe AF-580, a deep lilac. What better view while soaking in the tub than peering upward at this pleasing color? By turning to a combination of colors on the warm end of the spectrum, this same space becomes energized and resonates with vitality. Yes, it’s still a retreat and sanctuary, but one that allows you to re-charge and prepare to face another day. Benjamin Moore’s Pumpkin Blush 2156-20 on the walls casts the room in a gentle glow. The ceiling is Italianate AF-215, a rich, nearly golden complement.

In a uniquely sybaritic home spa where there’s room enough to lounge, read and even put down a yoga mat, the Benjamin Moore experts imagined two very different options. Applying Pale Iris 2073-60 to the walls and Lavender Mist 2070-60 to the ceiling, they created an environment that embodies fashionable style. Purple, in all its variant shades, is an empowering color, and this pairing strikes the perfect balance between Zen and zest. By switching to a warm, buttery hue, Benjamin Moore’s Sundance 2022-50, on the walls, and a pale green tint of Celery Ice 2030-60 on the ceiling, the ambiance becomes an intoxicating wrap of comfort. It’s hard not to feel healthy and happy in this space, with or without the endorphins at work.
